Technical Intramural Research Training Award (Tech-IRTA) fellowships are designed to produce a cadre of highly trained support professionals capable of performing the latest advanced techniques in a research laboratory. In addition to the developmental experiences afforded to participants in the laboratory, additional training at accredited institutions, as well as through the Foundation for the Advanced Education in the Sciences, is available.
To be eligible for this program, candidates must have graduated from an accredited American college or university with a bachelor's or master's degree; they must also be United States citizens or permanent residents. The initial fellowship award is for two years and can be extended to a maximum of three years. Tech-IRTA fellowships do not carry a service payback obligation.
The stipend ranges for the Tech-IRTA program depend on the applicant's educational level.
