Illumina cluster generation machine which prepares flow cellThe National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) has a position opening for a Health Scientist Administrator (Program Director) in Data Science in the Division of Genome Sciences in Montgomery County, MD. The Division of Genome Sciences plans, directs and facilitates research on the function of the genome in human health and disease.  The division has a strong focus on foundational resources, technology development, experimental approaches, data science, and analytical tools that accelerate and transform genome sciences research (See: Division of Genome Sciences).

The Division of Genome Sciences embodies a culture of collegiality, flexibility, innovation and broad scientific domain expertise, as well as expertise in complex program management, led by a professional team of dedicated, engaged and results-oriented staff.

The program director will develop and manage a portfolio of grants, be part of the program team for NHGRI funded consortia, provide scientific expertise and advice to NHGRI leadership, and participate in NHGRI and trans-National Institutes of Health (NIH) working groups focused on genomics and data science.

Candidates should have scientific expertise in computational biology and data science, as well as areas of relevance to the Division of Genome Sciences, including genomics, large-scale sequencing, human genomics, and functional genomics. Ideal candidates will have familiarity with the NIH grants process, as well as experience working in large-scale, interdisciplinary consortia or similar team-science projects.

The salaries for these positions are based upon individual qualifications and professional experience.  A full benefits package is available, which includes, but not limited to retirement, Thrift Savings Plan participation, health, life and long-term care insurance.
