Privacy If newborn screening DNA sequencing is performed, the sequencing itself may only be provided to the parents and may not be retained by the hospital or other health care provider ordering the sequencing. The hospital or provider may retain any analysis and recommendations based on the sequencing. A person or entity who discloses the sequencing or any analysis or recommendations based on the sequencing without the prior written consent of the individual, or his or her parents or guardian is guilty of a misdemeanor.
