The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is searching for a Residency and Fellowship training director. The training director for these programs would help oversee several of NHGRI’s programs for clinical and laboratory-based trainees, including the Medical Genetics Residency Programs (Categorical and Combined Programs [Pediatrics, Maternal Fetal Medicine and Reproductive Endocrinology & infertility]), the Medical Biochemical Genetics Residency, and the Medical Genetics Laboratory Fellowships (Clinical Biochemical and Laboratory Genetics & Genomics), and the International Summit in Human Genetics and Genomics (ISHGG).

Position Description

The director would also be involved in providing supervisory clinical genetics services to research subjects seen at the NIH Clinical Center, and would work with ongoing and new NGHRI clinically-oriented research projects, with specific duties and roles based on the director’s experience and interests. Requirements for the position include board-certification in clinical genetics, active medical licensure and eligibility for medical staff appointment, and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience.

The position will be filled under Title 5 of the United States code. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate. Pay will be set using the Title 38 Physicians Pay Schedule. A recruitment incentive may be available, and relocation expenses will be paid. A full federal Civil Service benefits package is available, including: retirement, health and life insurance, long-term care insurance, leave, and a Thrift Savings Plan (401k equivalent). The successful candidate is subject to a background investigation and public financial disclosure requirements.
