NHGRI is seeking exceptional candidates to serve a dual role of Staff Scientist within the Social and Behavioral Research Branch of NHGRI's Intramural Research Program and as a key Senior Advisor to the NHGRI Director.
Location: National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland
The Staff Scientist will conduct research into the implementation of genomic medicine in communities, including leading quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods research studies on the factors influencing community engagement with genetics/genomics. S/he will also advise the NHGRI Director on sensitive, high priority areas related to genetics and genomics research projects and other prominent initiatives being conducted by NHGRI, with particular emphasis on the evaluation of NHGRI’s efforts in scientific communication, outreach and engagement.
Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ experience in the development, management and evaluation of genomic programs; ability to communicate clearly, logically and persuasively on complex topics in genomics and genomic medicine; the ability to develop, maintain and enhance collaborative relationships; and experience in the design and conduct of research into the implementation of genomic medicine into communities. A doctoral degree in genetics is preferred.
