This is just one question from an archive of the National DNA Day Moderated Chat held in April 2008. The NHGRI Director and many genomics experts from across NHGRI took questions from students, teachers and the general public on topics ranging from basic genomic research, to the genetic basis of disease, to ethical questions about genetic privacy.

How hard is your job?
     Della Brown White, Ph.D.: Examining social and cultural factors that may influence participation in genetics research among minority populations. The greatest difficulty of my job is trying to interpret the science of genetics and communicate it in a meaningful way to people for whom science is not something they know a great deal about.
