Harris Lewin

Harris A. Lewin, Ph.D., is the Robert and Rosabel Osborne Endowed Chair and Distinguished Professor of Evolution and Ecology at the University of California, Davis. Prior to his current position Professor Lewin spent 27 years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as the E.W. and J.M. Gutgsell Endowed Professor in Immunogenetics. He also previously served as the UC Davis Vice Chancellor for Research from 2011-2016. This oral history will cover a range of topics, including Professor Lewin’s involvement in the sequencing of the cattle genome, his extensive research work with the agricultural industry, and his more recent efforts leading the ambitious Earth BioGenome Project.
