Identifying and Evaluating Trainee Outcomes Toolkit
This toolkit aids training programs in implementing streamlined and data-driven approaches to identify and evaluate trainee outcomes and measures of success.
The Training, Diversity, and Health Equity (TiDHE) Office, Ripple Effect Communications, Inc., along with other NHGRI colleagues, developed this toolkit to help training programs from all over the country incorporate best practices for evaluating trainee and program success. By using this toolkit, programs can better support trainees in their career goals and contribute to enhancing genomics workforce diversity.
The toolkit provides an overview of current methods, challenges and best practices to consider when identifying and evaluating trainee outcomes and success in biomedical research. It also attempts to identify important success metrics that should be considered for all trainees across career stages and areas of interest, including undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral and clinical trainees, as well as trainees who are pursuing non-academic career paths. The supplemental report provides more in-depth information on each section within the toolkit, including references and methodology.
