Biography

Mauresa Pittman joined the Office of Communications at the National Human Genomics Research Institute (NHGRI) as the lead public affairs specialist in June 2022. In this position, Mauresa oversees NHGRI’s History of Genomics Program, social media, and NHGRI’s public and internal website content, design, and visual presentation. Mauresa is responsible for developing, reviewing and evaluating NHGRI’s communication strategies, media guidelines and public affairs programs and projects. 

Prior to joining NHGRI, Mauresa served as branch chief in the Office of Strategic Communication at the General Services Administration. There, she directed multi-channel messaging in support of the 3,500-member Federal Acquisition Service workforce, including leading employee communication, managing media inquiries, and writing social media content, talking points and press releases. Mauresa began her career in public service in 2014 at the U.S. Postal Service where she managed cross-functional teams through the postage stamp development process, from stamp subject selection to national issuance. Mauresa also worked in the private sector at PricewaterhouseCoopers, PepsiCo and Campbell Soup Company.
