Program Director and Scientific Review Officer Positions at NHGRI

The Program Directors will manage a portfolio of grants, provide scientific expertise and advice to NHGRI leadership, organize scientific workshops, and participate in NHGRI and trans-National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded consortia and working groups.

• The Program Director in the position in the Division of Genomic Medicine will provide scientific expertise and support to informatic aspects of genomic medicine implementation, including the use of genomic information in clinical care. Candidates should have expertise in clinical genomic informatics, electronic health records, pharmacogenomics, genomic medicine, genomic variant interpretation and/or clinical implementation.
   
• The Scientific Review Officer in the Division of Extramural Operations will provide scientific expertise and support for genomic data sharing across NHGRI. They will serve as Genomic Program Administrator (GPA) for all NHGRI-funded research and manage a portfolio of grants in genome sciences.  In addition to scientific program management, they will be expected to advise leadership on data sharing policy and implementation; develop streamlined and standardized processes for management of dataset registrations and data sharing; and serve as a liaison between NIH and the scientific community. Candidates should have expertise in genomic data sharing policy and implementation, as demonstrated by past experiences in genomic data analysis, management, and sharing.
   
• The Program Director in the Office of Genomic Data Science will provide scientific expertise and support of computational genomics and data science activities within NHGRI and across the NIH, working in collaboration with both Extramural and Intramural Research Programs. In particular candidates will be part of a NHGRI team that supports the AnVIL program. Candidates with demonstrated background and expertise in STEM sciences are particularly encouraged to apply.
   
• The Program Director in the Division of Genomic Sciences will oversee a portfolio focused on comparative genomics, as well as methods for analysis of genomic sequence data and general genomic analysis tools.  Depending on the candidate’s interest and background the position may also include a focus on one or more of the following: a) computational methods for functional genomics; b) spatial genomics; or c) implementation of genome biology and functional genomics research in low- and middle-income countries.  Candidates should have expertise in comparative genomics, functional genomics, computational genomics or genome biology.

Ideal candidates for all positions will have expertise working in interdisciplinary teams and must be skilled in communicating with others to advance scientific program goals. Ideal candidates will also have familiarity with the NIH grants process. All applicants must meet the basic requirements for a Health Scientist Administrator.

Salaries are based upon individual qualifications and professional experience. A full benefits package is available, which includes retirement, Thrift Savings Plan participation, health and life insurance.
