updated: June 24, 2022

Definition

Population genomics is the large-scale application of genomic technologies to study populations of individuals. For example, population genomics research can be used to study human ancestry, migrations and health.

Narration

Population Genomics. Basically, population genomics allows scientists to understand how groups are related over time. It also allows scientists to understand our ancestral backgrounds and how that ancestral background has been shaped over time, in terms of the environment that our ancestors have lived their lives.
