CRGGH Work Highlighted by AJHG

Cell Press has assembled a reprint collection of the "Best of AJHG 2017-2018", which includes an article authored by Center for Research on Genomics and Global Health (CRGGH), researchers Daniel Shriner and Charles Rotimi.

New Understanding

The manuscript, entitled "Whole-Genome-Sequence-Based Haplotypes Reveal Single Origin of the Sickle Allele during the Holocene Wet Phase," updated our understanding of when and how the mutation that causes "sickling" of red blood cells arose (previous blog post). This work captured worldwide attention, with articles written in the New York Times, BBC News, Science Magazine, and others.

Congratulations to authors Daniel Shriner and Charles Rotimi!
