Establishing a 2020 Vision for Genomics
Strategic Planning Process
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) has launched a new round of strategic planning that will establish a 2020 vision for genomics aimed at accelerating scientific and medical breakthroughs. In developing the strategic plan, NHGRI aims to identify paradigm-shifting areas of genomics that will expand the field into new frontiers and enable novel applications to human health and disease. To ensure the widespread relevance of our strategic plan, we are seeking input from the scientific, medical and diverse public communities to help guide our planning process.
Our goal is to build an NHGRI strategic plan that is responsive to and resonates with the scientific community, while creating opportunities to improve human health for all populations. To do that, we are asking for input from all of our stakeholders.
Throughout our strategic planning process, we will offer several ways for members of the public to provide input and to play a role in shaping our research agenda. As part of this process, we will be reaching out to a variety of communities and people with different perspectives. The list of current and upcoming opportunities will develop as the planning process evolves, so make sure to check back often.
Provide Input via Email
If you have questions or ideas, please contact us by completing a simple feedback form below or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are using the #genomics2020 hashtag on Twitter and Facebook to enable people to easily follow and contribute to our strategic planning and to connect related conversations over time. Please feel free to share your ideas using this hashtag.
We plan to convene a series of town halls across the United States to capture input about our strategic planning process. The town halls will involve members of the scientific and medical communities, non-profit and private sectors, grantees, and members of the public.
Satellite Meetings at Scientific Conferences
To take advantage of existing opportunities to hear from our stakeholders, we intend to convene satellite meetings at scientific conferences that members of the genomics community typically attend.
Provided below is background information on NHGRI's current strategic planning process, such as frequently asked questions, news and past strategic plans for genomics.
